Bible, Games, Church People, Moose

Our second day in the park was very positive. Once again, a number of the kids were there to greet us and eagerly helped us carry stuff out to get set up.

Our Bible story was Jesus and Peter walking on the water. Ricky portrayed Jesus and Nolan acted out Peter and did a very dramatic reenactment on the blue tarp where the kids sit to listen to the lesson.

We had some new groups of kids come by today as well as as many of the regular kids come back. We also noticed that a lot of the kids specifically sought out particular team members to play different games or do crafts, so we had multiple activities going at the same time. It was sweet to get to know some of the kids better and to see their personalities come through.

There is a precious opportunity to encourage them in simple things like helping them learn a sport or craft and seeing their delight when they get the hang of it. When the mother of one of the girls called out to tell her it was time to go, she answered: “Mom, can’t I just stay with the church people?”

We are thankful to be known and trusted. Today’s craft was illustrating walking on the water with blue and white frosting on a graham cracker and licorice to represent the boat along with Swedish fish. We thank God for another day to connect with these kids and for how they are deepening in their eagerness to talk to certain team members. We also thank the Lord that everybody played safely and was fairly courteous and friendly to each other.

We saw a moose!
