The Word will not return void
Today we shared a lesson about how we can know about God. We shared the story about Lydia in the book of Acts and how God opened her heart to believe in Jesus. The kids seemed to be responsive to the story, and several were able to recite the verse for the week!
A cool moment I had was when I talked to a girl named Saphira. We made bracelets while she told me a bit about her family. I was able to get a couple books for her and her siblings, including one about how Jesus is a friend to us and the best friend we could ever have. She asked if I could read it to her right then and was engaged with the story.
The park party tonight was super amazing as well and a great chance to connect with a lot of kids, with familiar faces and new. Seeing all the different kinds of people who showed up to the party was a beautiful reminder of how God sees each person as made in His image. We now have a lot of kids to pray for and continue to connect with over the course of the week.

Today was such a blessing. The lesson was on Acts 16:11-15, “The Conversion of Lydia”. In this passage, Paul and Timothy approach Lydia and share the Gospel with her, leading to her accepting Christ into her heart. Marshall was Paul, Leisan was Lydia, with a little purple head wrap to signify she was the seller of purple goods, and our lovely Katie was The Narrator. With this little team (including Caleb as Timothy), we reconstructed this scene for a group of around 20 kids. We led them through the story, engaging them at different points- asking them what they knew about Jesus, asking them to point Lydia out. Near the end, they all joined Lydia in asking Jesus to save her from her sins, and the kids met Lydia’s (Leisan’s) family (Cathe, David, and Nelya)!
Afterwards, a few children gathered with me to talk about the lesson, color a coloring sheet about what’s in their hearts, and make bracelets. It was a very beautiful, craft-filled, sunny day, and we got to connect and engage with so many kids. Blob tag was played, chalk was drawn on sidewalks, and our verse of the week was sung.
Praise God for the ways He blessed us today!
